Rockpool

A long time since my last post but I'll make this one relatively brief, since it's about an idea that I'm not actually using for my final piece.

The idea is about a rock pool and and old crab who was washed up a long time ago, and I took my main inspiration from octonauts...

Synopsis

Mr. Wilber is an old and wise crab who was washed up into a rock pool many moons ago. He tells the young sea shrimps tales of his time out in the open ocean; battling monstrous creatures and meeting beautiful maidens. The young ones he is telling the stories to re-enact them in a flash back style and change their clothes to fit with the story.

Here are some character designs I began with, I didn't have a lot of time left so I picked the ones I thought fitted with the idea and began to clean them up and colour them

Here are the finished character designs, with a little bio each

Mother Nature and Her Little Sprites

I've been pretty busy over the past few days and have finally got a chance to sit down and do some real work! As the blog tittle suggests, this idea is going to be a little more childish than my previous...

Age Group
The age group I am aiming at will be 2-4 and possibly cross over into early 4-8. I think it would be successful as when children are around this age they are most susceptible to learning, and if we can teach them how to look after the planet and living things at a young age then hopefully they can keep this with them when they grow up.

Synopsis
In each episode we learn about 3 new animals, bugs or insects, how they affect each other and what role we can play to help them; with advice from feeding to homing them. We’ll learn where to find certain animals and how to attract them to your garden, helping them to thrive by providing them with the ingredients they need for survival.  All presented by Willow and Spore, two of natures little helpers.  We’ll see real live footage of the animals and Willow will show you some animations she made providing you with the information on how to help the little critters when they’re in your garden. And with each different season we’ll find new and exciting animals to spot, learn about and help!

I'll blog my style research next! Trying to keep the size of the posts down as they've been pretty mahoosive!

Faster Food

My first idea has been inspired by some shows that I have watched over the summer, mainly 'Angry Boys'.  This is a mock up documentary about several different characters and their lives, and how they are all linked in some way. It's a comedy where all of the characters are played by the same actor, mainly guys and their troublesome lives. I definitely recommend watching it if it's still on BBC iPlayer by the time you are reading this.

And 'Trollied', another mock documentary, about employees in a supermarket.  Agin this is an adult based comedy, which corresponds to my target age group.  These are both live action so I haven't just been looking at animations for inspiration.

So my idea was to do a 'mockumentary' in a fast food restaurant, with characters that have strong solid backgrounds and aims within the series, as I am aiming it at the 16+ age group.  I think it would work really well as there isn't an animated series out like this at the moment, also the animated shows for young adults and above are quite limited.

It would consist of around 6 main characters, the Manager, the fryer operator, 2 drive thru guys, a checkout operator and a new starter.

I'll post some characters with bios so you know a bit more about them as I go along.
